Karen Watson, an affiliate with WMC, has over 18 years of experience developing solutions for private sector, public sector and Indigenous clients. She has developed solutions which obtained sales targets and process improvement savings of $400M.
Karen started her career as a project manager and functional lead on technology, finance and procurement implementations. Then progressed to strategic sourcing projects where she led complex global negotiations on behalf of clients such as Shell, BP, BP Alaska, Chevron Texaco, Goodyear. During that period change management became a definitive focus on all of her projects as it became clear, successful, sustainable solutions benefit from change management to break down barriers, facilitate compliance and obtain project goals.
For the last 11 years, Karen has worked with Indigenous clients, industry and businesses that support Indigenous interests in the Territories and Alberta. She has developed performance improvement, compensation analysis, performance review & evaluation, competency development, organizational design, developed communication strategies, training plans and materials, performed various ‘barrier removal’ strategies, administrative policy development, finance administration and reporting, procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain and software configuration projects. Her experience working with Indigenous nations has provided both a community-level and strategic perspective on challenges and opportunities facing Nations and the businesses that work with them.
